Average Speed Camera Survey |
||
|
Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne has invited residents to say whether average speed cameras should be installed on sections of the A285 and A272 in West Sussex. Average speed cameras measure your vehicle's speed over a long stretch of road rather than at a single spot. Using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), they record your entry and exit time between at least two cameras to calculate your average speed. If this average exceeds the limit, you are fined: “Local people have been contacting my office about speeding, dangerous driving and vehicle noise on the A285 between Halnaker and Duncton and the A272 between Petworth and Midhurst. They want to know what can be done to slow cars down and some have suggested average speed cameras which have been proven to work in other parts of Sussex and across the border in Surrey.” You can share your views with the Commissioner here: Average Speed Cameras – Fill in form | ||
